“I have always believed in clean politics. My record speaks for itself. I have never been associated with corruption, and I intend to keep it that way,” he said.

He will face stiff competition from NUP’s Deputy Spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro, who was nominated in absentia, and Winifred Nakandi, formerly of NUP and now nominated as the Democratic Forum (DF) candidate.

The contest is expected to attract significant public attention, given Nakawa’s history as a politically vibrant constituency.

Ruhindi, who served as Attorney General from 2015 to 2016, lost his parliamentary seat in the 2016 elections.

His return marks a major comeback attempt and a renewed effort to re-establish his political influence in Kampala’s dynamic political scene.
